Rickey Minyard talented 2011 running back from Southern California
by Bill Harrison on 9.15.2009
Rickey Minyard is an extremely talented two-way player for Thousand Oaks High School located in Southern California.
Minyard begins his junior season as the work-horse in the backfield, and he will also be starting at strong side outside linebacker this season.
To take advantage of the legs of Minyard Thousand Oaks has shifted their offensive scheme to the spread offense this season. Last year, as a sophomore, Minyard racked up nearly 700 yards rushing and he hit the end zone 6 times for TD's.
Minyard earned All-Maramonte League 1st Team honors for his efforts as a sophomore.
As Minyard heads into the 2009 season he expects to get the ball 25 times per game, and he should easily rush for over 1,000 yards this season.
The multi-talented Minyard is 6-1 and weighs 205 pounds. He's been clocked at 4.50 in the 40 yard dash. All good numbers to garner some serious D-I looks.
To date Minyard has heard from the likes of USC, Boise State, New Mexico, UCLA, Oregon, Oregon State, Nebraska, LSU and UNLV. With another season to go on-lookers should keep an eye out for this rising star from Thousand Oaks, CA.
